The Sinking of the Titanic

History will always remember the sinking of the Titanic. It was one day when thousands of people lost their lives. Many of the survivors that were aboard this boat remembered April 14th when the Titanic sank under water after hitting an ice berg. Some were haunted by the things that happened.

Out of a total 2200 people aboard, many find it hard to imagine as to how they would have made it when it comes to getting off the boat. When people read about the system that they had, for many, it was very confusing. This is something that some people have to look at how people were to exit and how few life boats that were available.

People are also confused about the sinking of the Titanic. There are many who wonder how it even happened. Yeah they know that it struck an ice berg. Many understand that. However, what many people don’t understand is how they didn’t see it. What we have learned from survivor diaries is that there were so many ice bergs out there, that it was impossible not to hit one.

There were some who survived this that ended up having many nightmares about ice bergs because when they were in the water on the life boats, that is all they saw.  This would be a traumatic event. This is an event that no one wants to face, but some who read about this account of history say that accidents do happen. It might not be entirely their fault as historians are still learning about just what happened and which theory can be justifiable.

There are many who say the captain was to blame for the sinking of the Titanic for different reasons. There are some who say that he should have known a bit more about how to watch for those. He should have thought less about the money they could make when they had less life boats as they deemed it the safest boat and insisted that they still put the regulated about of them up. However, it is hard to say who is actually at fault for this.

There are many who after seeing this movie about the sinking Titanic didn’t want to go on boat rides. There were many who wonder what precautions they take to ensure that this doesn’t happen again. It is safe to say that they did many things since then to try to bring a safe ride where people don’t have to worry. This is what we found to be true about this. The sinking of the Titanic is something that we learned tons about as they found the boat and love learning about the lives that different people lead.

People who read about this in the news and wondered how such a thing could happen. It was the buzz of the time. Nowadays, they do everything in their power so that if such a thing happens, they can say they did their very best to ensure the safety of each and every passenger that comes on board.

Pics of the Titanic

Titanic is an unfamiliar name no more. Ever since the release of Jack-Rose saga, titanic became a household name. The unfortunate passenger liner of 1912 once meant more than a ship to the world. It was a masterpiece, a beauty; an awe inspiring queen of the waters that reigned with all its glory on Southampton coast. It was not just a marine vehicle either, but a small city with endless dreams, hopes and human complexities.

Photographs taken of the ship over the years have helped everyone get a real feel of its interior and the ambience it provided to its passengers.  One can still trace some evidence by the ocean deep photographs of its propellers, anchor, famous white fences and wooden flooring, which all lay covered in thick ocean mud, weeds and full grown plants today.

Launched in 1911 by White Star Line, the ship was 882 feet 9 inches in length and 92 feet in breadth with a capacity of accommodating 2,453 passengers in it; hence named titanic. It commenced its journey on 10 April 1912, nearly colliding with the SS New York in Southampton. Pictures of titanic are used today to help the readers experience the luxury and sophistication as exuded by the ship.

The ship was made spacious with more emphasis on safety and comfort than speed. As we look at pictures of the titanic we find that the major portion of the exterior was painted in black from outside. The four steam engines added a more impressive look to it which looked more like 4 pillars of its strength. The overall theme was opulence and richness and its regal ambience was reflective of the best standards of the time. The ship was not just a human creation manifesting creativity and hard work to a tee, but also a reflection of human social fabric and norms of the time.

The ship was divided into many sections according to the status of the passengers. The 1st class section had amenities like a veranda café, swimming pool, Turkish baths, squash courts and a gymnasium while wood paneled common rooms were decorated with the most exquisite furniture available. The overall sophistication and luster of the first class rooms and halls can still be traced in its ruins.

Besides the luxury, the ship had everything modern, which was imaginable in those times like electric lifts, electrical system driven by stream generators, radios and exquisite lighting. There was also a café to cater the needs of the first class in the sunlit veranda. The overall service, decor and expenditure level reduced slightly in the second and still dropped in the third class rooms. Below the mundane world of the passengers were the men of labor sweating blood among huge pumps and steam generators with a world of their own.

The ship glided smoothly over Atlantic waters till it was hit by a colossal ice berg which paved the way towards its destruction. Later a Chief Stewart caught the iceberg in camera owing to the red blood smears at the base of the berg. After the collision the ship sank amongst hue and cry and the world knows the rest. Unfortunately, only 711 passengers survived.

Titanic still lies deep down in the ocean like an old woman buried with secrets in her heart. You know it’s gone yet the mystery of its glory lost amongst the silence of death is undeniable.

Titanic Pictures Underwater

Titanic, an infamous example of one of the deadliest ocean liner disasters has been visually illustrated by a number of artists. Historical records are usually based on paintings and illustrations rather than photographs. It was after many years that the idea of discovering the wreck of Titanic was brought up.

Titanic sank in 1912 and it was not until 1985 that a joint American and French expedition led to the recovery of the wrecked ship. The only way to gather first-hand evidence of the incident was to discover the ship itself and photograph what remained. The discovery of the debris let the searchers collect astonishing images of the wrecked ship.

Titanic was broken into pieces

The most shocking piece of information that the discovery gave was that the ship actually broke into two pieces before sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Pictures of the ship reveal that the ship was majorly split into two pieces that were lying 600 meters apart from each other.

Debris on ocean bed

Pictures of the wreck show that around five kilometers of the ocean bed was covered with debris from the ship including daily use items, kitchenware, utensils and furniture etc.

Damage to Titanic’s Steel

Titanic pictures under water clearly show metal of the ship being eaten away by underwater microbes. When ships sink, the deposits of salts and wastes from the marine life greatly damage their steel. Titanic photos also show this damage that has made some areas of the ship hardly recognizable.

Bow of Titanic

Pictures of Titanic’s bow make a popular image as it is one of the most easily identifiable areas of the ship. Titanic had a signature bow which greatly added to its aesthetic beauty. Due to the delayed discovery of the ship, the pictures show that the bow was greatly decayed by corrosion.

Titanic’s Propeller

Titanic had a huge propeller. The underwater pictures show the propeller torn apart from the rest of the ship and eaten away by microbes.

Collision with iceberg

The first photos of Titanic that emerged were those of its hull. The pictures depicted that Titanic was indeed damaged due to a collision with an iceberg. Rather than one long gash, the ship was extensively damaged at different places due to the crash. This led to more damage and hence the ship sank in just a few hours.

A faded reminder of glory

Titanic’s underwater pictures are a touching reminder of its once glorious form. The bits and pieces of the ship shown in the pictures are like a memorial that takes us back a hundred years to its once magnificent structure. Collecting these pictures was a gruesome task as Titanic wreck rested on the ocean floor three kilometers below the surface. With the passage of time researchers were able to gather hundreds of authentic underwater pictures of Titanic. People now do not need to wonder how the ship looked like as the pictures help recreate what once was the most luxurious passenger liner of all times.
